Bitcoin Set to Soar to $150,000 Post-Halving, Analysts Predict in Bitfinex Alpha Report

In the latest edition of the Bitfinex Alpha report, analysts forecast a remarkable surge for Bitcoin, projecting a potential increase of 160%, leading the cryptocurrency to hit $150,000 within 14 months after the upcoming halving event.

Bitcoin's Trajectory

Bitfinex utilized a straightforward regression model to forecast diminishing returns, analyzing the impact of previous halving events on Bitcoin's price. Although the model doesn't anticipate Bitcoin reaching a new all-time high (ATH) before the halving, it suggests that the post-halving price surge could exceed 160%.

Upcoming Halving Event

Scheduled for April 20, the halving event occurs every four years or after 210,000 blocks, reducing the Bitcoin block reward by 50%. The current reward of 6.25 BTC will diminish to 3,125 BTC, resulting in a slower rate of new coin production and gradually decreasing supply over time.

Historically, Bitcoin's value has surged following halving events due to sustained or increased demand. However, this cycle's dynamics might differ as Bitcoin first reaches a new ATH before the event takes place, signaling uncertainty in market dynamics and prompting a need for deeper comprehension of their potential impacts on future Bitcoin price movements.

Previous halving events have had significant implications for Bitcoin's price trajectory. For instance, after the 2012 halving, Bitcoin surged by 9,300% within 396 days, while following the 2016 event, it soared by 2,800% over 17 months. The most recent halving in 2020 propelled BTC's value by 700% within 11 months.

Based on analysis, Bitcoin is expected to increase by 160% within 420 days or 14 months post-halving. Bitfinex suggests a conservative estimate places Bitcoin's price between $57,000 and $65,000 at the time of the halving, projecting a price range of $150,000 to $169,000 at the peak of the cycle.

Analyst Predictions

Analyst Mark Palmer from Benchmark Company predicts Bitcoin will reach $150,000 by the end of 2025, surpassing his previous forecast of $125,000. Palmer attributes this optimism to MicroStrategy's substantial Bitcoin holdings and anticipates the company's holdings to increase by 40% by 2025, reaching approximately 298,246 BTC. He foresees MicroStrategy funding this expansion through a capital raise and surplus cash generated from its enterprise software business.

Additionally, Skybridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci anticipates Bitcoin to reach at least $170,000 within 18 months following the halving, underscoring the widespread bullish sentiment surrounding Bitcoin's future trajectory.
