BlackRock and Mastercard Reportedly Showing Interest in XRP Ledger
Institutional interest in the XRP Ledger (XRPL) is gaining fresh attention after Odelia Torteman, Director of Corporate Adoption at XRPL Commons, revealed that major financial giants like BlackRock and Mastercard are showing interest in the network.
According to comments shared by XRP community analyst Xaif, Torteman explained that the XRP Ledger was designed from the start to support enterprise-level use cases, making it an attractive infrastructure option for institutions looking to move financial operations on-chain.
Her remarks have fueled speculation that companies such as BlackRock and Mastercard could eventually launch products directly on XRPL, further strengthening XRP’s position in the institutional blockchain race.
At the same time, XRP’s market narrative is being amplified by an aggressive long-term price forecast suggesting the token could eventually reach $500 by 2035, sparking major debate across the crypto industry.
Why XRPL Is Attracting Institutional Attention
Torteman emphasized that the XRP Ledger was built with enterprise adoption in mind long before institutional blockchain adoption became a major trend.
Unlike many blockchain networks that later adapted for institutional use, XRPL already includes several features designed to support large-scale financial operations.
These include:
- Built-in Automated Market Maker (AMM) functionality
- A native Decentralized Exchange (DEX)
- Fast and low-cost settlement infrastructure
- Tokenization support for real-world assets
- Institutional DeFi development pathways
She explained that these pre-embedded capabilities make XRPL particularly attractive for organizations seeking blockchain infrastructure without needing to build every component from scratch.
This is especially relevant for firms like BlackRock and Mastercard, which require compliance-ready systems with strong scalability and reliability.
Zero-Knowledge Proofs Add a Missing Piece
A major recent development for XRPL was the addition of zero-knowledge (ZK) proof technology, announced by XRPL Commons in partnership with Boundless.
According to XRPL Commons, privacy has long been one of the missing components for true institutional blockchain adoption.
ZK proofs allow transactions and financial operations to remain verifiable on-chain while protecting sensitive data—something large institutions require for treasury operations, settlements, and regulated financial activity.
This upgrade significantly improves XRPL’s institutional appeal because it helps solve one of the biggest barriers to enterprise adoption: privacy without sacrificing transparency.
For banks, asset managers, and payment providers, this could be one of the most important technical improvements to the ecosystem.
Ripple’s Existing Ties Strengthen the BlackRock Narrative
The interest from BlackRock is not appearing in isolation.
There are already existing connections between the broader XRP ecosystem and BlackRock-linked infrastructure.
Last year, Ripple partnered with Securitize—the issuer of BlackRock’s BUIDL fund—to integrate RLUSD as a stablecoin off-ramp for the tokenized fund.
This created a practical bridge between Ripple’s infrastructure and BlackRock’s tokenized asset ecosystem.
While this does not confirm direct BlackRock deployment on XRPL, it strengthens the broader institutional relationship narrative.
As tokenized funds continue expanding across traditional finance, these connections become increasingly important.
Mastercard Is Also Expanding Inside the XRP Ecosystem
Mastercard also has existing links to Ripple through its Crypto Partner Program, where the two firms have been working together on regulated stablecoin settlement solutions.
Ripple revealed that the collaboration includes testing RLUSD on XRPL to support:
- Faster settlement for Mastercard transactions
- Regulated stablecoin infrastructure
- More efficient cross-border payment rails
- Improved treasury and liquidity management
This partnership reinforces the idea that institutional adoption of XRPL may happen first through infrastructure layers rather than direct token speculation.
For enterprises, the focus is often utility first—price later.
Ripple President: Companies Will Drive the Next Wave of XRP Adoption
Further supporting the institutional thesis, Monica Long recently stated that companies—not retail traders—will likely drive the next major phase of XRP and XRPL adoption.
She explained that Ripple is already working with multiple partners using its infrastructure for services such as:
- Dollar clearing
- Cross-border settlements
- Internal treasury management
- Real-time liquidity movement between global entities
According to Long, businesses and banks are increasingly looking for better ways to move capital efficiently across multiple jurisdictions.
This is where XRP and stablecoins like RLUSD become highly valuable.
She also highlighted Ripple’s Treasury Management product, which now integrates both XRP and RLUSD into a single institutional environment.
This allows organizations to manage payments, treasury flows, and settlement operations using crypto infrastructure without leaving regulated enterprise systems.
For many institutions, efficiency—not speculation—is the primary driver of blockchain adoption.
XRP Trades Near $1.42 as Institutional Narrative Grows
At the time of writing, XRP is trading around $1.42–$1.43, according to CoinMarketCap and TradingView data.
The asset has recently tested the $1.50 zone, a level many traders view as critical short-term resistance.
As institutional interest headlines continue to grow, investors are closely watching whether stronger adoption narratives can translate into sustained price momentum.
However, the market is also debating a much more aggressive long-term scenario.
Can XRP Really Reach $500 by 2035?
One of the boldest predictions currently circulating in the XRP community comes from software engineer Vincent Van Code, who used large language models including Grok to simulate XRP’s long-term growth potential.
His AI-assisted model projected a possible price range of:
- $400 to $650+ by 2035
- With $500 becoming the headline estimate
Van Code was careful to clarify that this was not his personal prediction, but rather an AI-generated scenario based on multiple variables.
He stated clearly that it was not financial advice.
The model considered:
- U.S. crypto regulation progress
- Ripple’s payment network expansion
- AI integration into financial systems
- Neobank adoption
- XRP’s role as a bridge currency
- Central bank digital currencies (CBDCs)
- Quantum-resistant upgrades expected for XRPL around 2028
The year-by-year forecast starts more conservatively:
- 2026: $6–$10
- 2029: $60–$120
- 2030: $100–$200
- 2035: $400–$650+
This would require XRP to become deeply embedded in global financial infrastructure.
The $30 Trillion Market Cap Problem
Critics quickly pointed out the biggest challenge behind the $500 XRP thesis: market capitalization.
At $500 per XRP token, the asset’s total market cap would exceed $30 trillion, a figure larger than the entire U.S. economy.
This has led many analysts to argue that:
- A $50 target may be far more realistic
- $500 would require near-perfect execution of every bullish assumption
- Massive regulatory support would be essential
- Global institutional adoption would need to happen at unprecedented speed
Some XRP supporters believe it is possible if Ripple becomes deeply integrated with global payment systems and tokenized finance.
Others view the projection as mathematically unrealistic.
The truth likely depends on how much of traditional finance actually moves on-chain over the next decade.
Final Outlook: Institutional Adoption Matters More Than Predictions
The bigger story may not be whether XRP reaches $500—but whether institutions like BlackRock and Mastercard continue moving closer to XRPL.
Because real adoption drives long-term value far more reliably than viral price predictions.
With:
- Enterprise-ready infrastructure
- Privacy improvements through ZK proofs
- Ripple’s growing treasury products
- Stablecoin integrations like RLUSD
- Institutional partnerships expanding globally
…the XRP Ledger is positioning itself as a serious contender for the future of tokenized finance.
Whether XRP reaches $50, $500, or somewhere in between, the next major chapter will likely be written by institutions—not retail speculation alone.
