TRON Price Rebounds as Network Slashes Fees by 60%, Bolstering USDT Dominance
TRON (TRX) is once again in the spotlight after a major network-wide fee reduction boosted its competitiveness as the leading blockchain for Tether (USDT) transfers. The governance-driven move, which cut average transfer costs by 60%, has fueled renewed investor optimism even as trading momentum shows signs of cooling.
At the time of writing, TRX trades at $0.3447, marking a 2.4% gain over the last 24 hours. While still down 0.6% on the month, the asset remains only 20% below its all-time high of $0.4313 set in December 2024.
TRON Fee Cut: A Turning Point for Adoption
The most significant development for the TRON ecosystem came on August 29, when TRON’s Super Representatives voted to reduce the Energy Unit Price from 210 SUN to 100 SUN. The result was a network-wide transaction fee cut that has already reshaped user activity.
According to CryptoQuant analyst Amr Taha, average TRC-20 transfer fees plunged from 4.4 TRX to 2.1 TRX, representing a 60% decline. At the same time, weekly fee totals collapsed from 272 million TRX in mid-August to just 23.1 million TRX in early September.
This move could prove pivotal in reinforcing TRON’s role as the primary settlement layer for Tether (USDT), which accounts for the bulk of activity across its network.
“By cutting costs, TRON has made itself far more attractive for regular stablecoin transfers,” Taha noted, estimating that as many as 45% more users may now find TRON affordable for daily usage.
USDT Dominance on TRON Strengthens
TRON has long been the top chain for USDT transfers, processing billions in daily settlement volume. With this fee cut, the network is expected to further solidify its leadership against rivals such as Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain, which often face higher transaction fees and congestion during peak usage.
Lower fees also make TRON more competitive for:
-
Remittances, where stablecoin transfers are increasingly used for low-cost cross-border payments.
-
Exchanges and market makers, who rely on TRON for quick, inexpensive settlements.
-
Retail adoption, as everyday users gain confidence in cost-effective USDT transfers.
This development is particularly significant given the broader push for stablecoin adoption in global finance, where TRON now plays a central role.
Ecosystem Growth: Treasury Expansion and Ledger Launch
Beyond fee reductions, TRON has made two other major announcements this month that highlight its growing ecosystem.
-
$110 Million Treasury Boost – On September 2, TRON Inc. revealed an expansion of its corporate treasury, adding $110 million in reserves backed by its largest shareholder. This capital injection is expected to provide additional liquidity and support for development initiatives across the TRON ecosystem.
-
Ledger Enterprise App Launch – On September 11, TRON announced the launch of a Ledger Enterprise mobile app aimed at improving secure USDT transfers. The move will make it easier for institutional players to manage large volumes of TRC-20 transactions with enterprise-grade custody solutions.
Together, these updates underscore TRON’s strategy to position itself not just as a retail-friendly blockchain but as a robust settlement layer for both individuals and institutions.
TRON Price Performance: Current Status
TRX is currently trading at $0.3447, with recent price action showing resilience after bouncing from lows near $0.31. Over the past seven days, TRX gained a modest 2%, although its monthly performance remains negative.
Key market data highlights include:
-
Spot trading volume: $702 million over the past 24 hours, down 10.6%.
-
Derivatives trading volume: $252 million, marking an 18.7% decline.
-
Open interest: Down 1.3%, suggesting reduced speculative activity.
The data implies that while spot buying supports current price levels, derivatives traders are less engaged, signaling cooling momentum in speculative positioning.
TRON Technical Analysis: Key Levels to Watch
TRON’s price is currently consolidating just above its 20-day simple moving average (SMA) at $0.3401, showing short-term strength. Broader market structure remains positive, with both the 50-day and 200-day SMAs still in buy territory.
-
Momentum Indicators – The MACD currently shows a mild sell signal, while the Relative Strength Index (RSI) sits neutral at 54.
-
Bollinger Bands – TRX is consolidating within the middle range, suggesting sideways movement before a potential breakout.
-
Support levels – Strong support is found at $0.32, with a deeper fallback risk toward $0.30 if this level fails.
-
Resistance levels – TRX faces immediate resistance at $0.36. A breakout above could open the path toward $0.38–$0.40, with longer-term targets closer to $0.43 (all-time high).
Investor Sentiment: Cooling But Optimistic
Despite lower trading volumes, sentiment around TRON remains cautiously optimistic. The network’s structural improvements—fee cuts, treasury expansion, and enterprise adoption—are seen as strong fundamental drivers.
Market observers believe that if TRON sustains its role as the dominant USDT settlement layer, it could see further institutional interest, particularly as regulators worldwide push for stablecoin adoption under clear frameworks.
TRON vs. Competitors: Where It Stands
TRON’s recent developments put it in a stronger position relative to rival blockchains:
-
Ethereum (ETH) – Still the leader in DeFi but plagued by higher gas fees, making TRON more attractive for stablecoin transfers.
-
Solana (SOL) – Known for speed and low fees but continues to face network stability concerns.
-
BNB Chain – Competes in volume but has faced regulatory challenges due to its ties to Binance.
By focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and enterprise partnerships, TRON has carved out a niche that could help it retain dominance in stablecoin settlement markets.
What’s Next for TRON?
Looking ahead, several factors could influence TRX’s trajectory:
-
Regulatory clarity – U.S. and global regulatory decisions around stablecoins could either accelerate adoption or slow growth.
-
Network usage – Sustained increases in USDT transfer volumes will reinforce TRON’s position as a settlement leader.
-
Ecosystem partnerships – Enterprise collaborations, especially in custody and payment solutions, could attract institutional adoption.
-
Price action – Maintaining support above $0.32 will be key for continued bullish momentum.
If TRON manages to break above $0.36 resistance, technical analysts suggest the next rally could test $0.38–$0.40, with eyes on reclaiming the $0.43 all-time high by year’s end.
Conclusion
TRON’s recent 60% fee cut, paired with strategic treasury growth and enterprise-focused initiatives, has given the network renewed momentum. While speculative activity has cooled, the fundamentals remain strong, especially as TRON reinforces its role as the leading chain for USDT transfers.
With support holding above $0.32 and resistance in sight at $0.36, the coming weeks will determine whether TRX can build on its gains and push toward new highs—or whether declining volume signals a pause before the next major move.
